These nuts are created to a standard of DIN 6926.
Flange Nyloc (nylon insert) Nuts are torque prevailing nuts which use plastic/nylon inserts that are located towards the top of the nut – which reduce its inner diameter – therefore deforming the insert over the mating thread and capturing the bolt or screw and providing a locking feature. The resultant resistance or prevailing torque to causes the nut to remain locked in position and resistant to vibration.
This design feature means that the screw threads do not cause damage to the plastic/nylon insert, allowing the nut to be used more than once. The locking feature will, however, deteriorate after persistent re-use.
This Flange Nyloc Nut is an economic locknut and is ideal in applications where vibration or motion could loosen or undo the nut.
They can also be used to assist sealing the bolt thread against things like seepage of oil, water, petrol, parrafin and other liquids, whilst also being suitable for use in environments with relatively high temperatures. The locking ability of this nut retains up to 121°C.
Available as standard in Steel grades 8 and 10, A2 and A4 Stainless Steel, and with some sizes also available in Brass.
Diameters range from M4 to M24 as standard, with fine pitch and imperial sizes also available subject to availability.
Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and custom parts made to drawings.
