Internally Threaded Unheaded Brass Inserts
These internally threaded, unheaded brass inserts are for installation in amorphous thermoplastics such as PPO-PC.
- Provide a permanent and durable female thread in notch sensitive and brittle thermoplastics
- Curled form knurls avoid sharp edges – reducing the issue of hoop stress
- Good resilience to pull-out loads due to the funnelling of plastic back into grooves
- Resistant to most forms of corrosion
Hoop Stress Reducing Unheaded Brass Inserts
These internally threaded, unheaded brass inserts are for installation in amorphous thermoplastics such as PPO-PC. They will provide a permanent and durable female thread in notch sensitive and brittle thermoplastics, such as 30-percent filled polycarbonate. The curved form of the knurls on this high-quality unheaded brass insert means that they do not have any sharp edges – reducing the problem of hoop stress – which can often cause fractures in more delicate types of plastic during the insertion process.
Suitable for insertion using either heated or ultrasonic installation methods, these unheaded brass inserts can also be moulded in. The curved knurls still retain a high torque resistance and tensile strength and a good resilience against pull-out loads is created by funnelling the plastic back into the grooves. These brass inserts are resistant to most forms of corrosion and are excellent conductors of electric current. Available in five lengths from 3.9 to 12.7mm, diamaters from 3.5 to 10mm and with standardised internal threads from M2 to M8.
