These short, barbed brass inserts are designed primarily for use in pull-through applications in a variety of thin section and sheet thermoplastic materials.

These short, barbed brass inserts are designed primarily for use in pull-through applications in a variety of thin section and sheet thermoplastic materials. They can also be employed in thermoset plastics which have some resilience and a tensile strength of no more than 100 Mpa. The increased head size and barb diameter provide larger bearing surfaces in thin materials to achieve an excellent resiliency to torsion and pull-out. Available in different internal thread sizes from M2 to M10, the larger sizes are chamfered at the rear of the head to decrease apparent projection. To maximise thread engagement countersinking should be performed only at one end. These barbed brass inserts are ideal for insertion into rotational moulded, fabricated and formed components. They are available in lengths from 1.35 to 4.55-mm with head diameters from 4.9 to 16-mm.

These shorter brass inserts with studs have two or three rows of barbs which provide excellent rotational resilience and resistance to pull out even in thin plastics. They can be inserted into fabricated, formed or moulded holes using both heated or cold press-in methods, as well as ultrasonic techniques. They are designed mainly for use in pull-through applications in sheet and thin section thermoplastics. The large size of the heads and the increased dimensions of the barbs ensure a firm and stable insertion with high resistance to pull-out and excellent resilience to torque. For optimum performance, the plastic material section should slightly exceed the under-head length of these short brass inserts. This ensures a satisfactory union with the mating part and also reduces compression of the plastic so decreasing creep. These brass inserts with studs are available in a variety of lengths and diameters and with internal standardised thread sizes from M2 to M10. The rear of the head is chamfered in the larger thread sizes to diminish the apparent projection. These inserts are made from a high-quality brass which has excellent conductivity of electricity and is also resilient to many corrosive agents.
