Shear Bolts with Raised Countersunk Head, otherwise known as snap-off or breakaway bolts, are permanent one-way tamper-proof fasteners that provide one of the highest levels of security on the market.
This component features a hexagonal portion fixed to the top of the head which detaches once surpassing the maximum torque of the bolt. This results in a plain head with no drive to remove the screw.
The raised countersunk head offers an aesthetically pleasing design and a smooth, low-profile finish to further increase tamper resistance – fastened into a countersunk hole using a standard hex socket or spanner.
Raised Countersunk Shear Bolts cannot be removed once installed, therefore they are only suitable for applications where no maintenance is required. These bolts are typically used within high-security settings such as prisons and banks, but are often found in automotive and aerospace applications.
