ASTM A193 Bolts, Fasteners and Fixings
ASTM A193 is a specification for high tensile alloy and Stainless Steel fasteners which include various grades of Ferritic Steels and Austenitic Stainless Steels.
These specific materials are designed for high temperature or high pressure service, as well as other special purpose applications such as pressure vessels, valves, flanges, and fittings.
Choosing the right grade will depend on the intended application or assembly, each of which differ slightly in terms of design, service conditions, properties and characteristics.
The most popular grades are A193 B7 and A193 B8 – often used for bolts and studs in high strength and high temperature applications respectively.
Other common grades within the ASTM A193 specification include B5, B6, B7M, B8M, B8T, and B16. The full list of ASTM A193 grades can be found below.
