Torx (TX) Low Socket Head Captive Screws host a standard 6 Lobe Torx drive and an unthreaded shank below the head – often referred to as a reduced thread.
When installed alongside Threaded Captive Washers, the screw is held “captive” and cannot be fully removed. This provides a secure fastening and prevents the loss or damage of a fastener within an assembly.
Often used to fasten sheet metal or captive panels, Torx Low Socket Head Captive Screws are designed to aid compliance with the EU directive which requires use of captive fasteners on protective guards for machinery.
The TX drive minimises the potential of cam-out and increases the operational life of the captive screw – requiring a Torx screwdriver or insert bit for installation.
Torx (TX) Low Socket Head Captive Screws are manufactured from A2 / 304 Stainless Steel as standard. Other materials are available to order including Titanium, Aluminium, and many more.
Available at Fastenright in thread sizes M2 to M8, with lengths from 10mm to 60mm. Optional thread locking patches can also be supplied for increased vibration resistance.
Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
