Hex Socket Cap Thread Rolling Screws, typically in accordance with DIN 912 standard / ISO 4762, host a cylindrical style head with a hexagonal drive recess – fastened using a standard hex wrench or insert bit.
These components are intended for use with sheet metals and other malleable materials. Thread rolling screws can be driven into a pilot hole without the need for thread tapping as a separate process.
They host a unique three-lobe or trilobular thread design. During installation, thread rolling screws form their own threads and pushes excess material into relief areas of the screw.
This increases resistance to vibration and reduces the chance of the screw becoming loose. Using an extruded hole may provide additional length and improve retention.
Thread Rolling screws also help to avoid loose chips that are caused by other thread cutting processes.
DIN 912 Hex Socket Cap Thread Rolling Screws are manufactured from Steel Zinc Plated as standard, with and Steel Black Plated available on request.
Available at Fastenright in thread sizes M4 to M8, with lengths up to 50mm.
Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
