Self Clinch Floating Nuts are designed to provide load-bearing threads in thin sheet metal while ensuring the material remains flush on one side.
They are installed into a pre-drilled hole using a standard press, where the subsequent squeezing force pushes displaced material into the undercut and around the knurled self-clinching feature.
This ensures the fastener is permanently secured to the panel without the use of welding or traditional joining methods.
They allow up to .030″ / 0.76mm adjustment for mating hole misalignment, making these fasteners an ideal choice for applications where the misalignment of mating components is possible.
Floating Nuts can be supplied in both non-locking and self-locking types. The self-locking type hosts a strong torque-resistant thread to prevent loosening over time.
Self Clinch Floating Nuts are manufactured from Carbon Steel or 300 Series Stainless Steel as standard.
Available at Fastenright in thread sizes M3 to M6, as well as #4 to 1/4″ Unified threads.
