Spring-Loaded Self Clinch Locating Pin Captive Panel Fasteners host an unthreaded locating pin as opposed to a threaded captive panel screw.
They provide quick installation and removal of parts without the need for additional tools, and are often used to reposition hardware such as racks, consoles and access panels.
These spring-loaded plunger assemblies are typically supplied with a locking mechanism that secures the plunger in its fully retracted position. To engage the mechanism, simply retract the plunger and twist.
The knurled self-clinching feature permanently attaches these fasteners to thin Steel and Aluminium sheets. This requires sufficient squeezing force to be applied using a press which displaces material from the panel into the undercut and around the knurls.
Spring-Loaded Self Clinch Locating Pin Captive Panel Fasteners are intended for use in sheet hardness HRB 80 or less on the Rockwell B scale, or HB 150 or less on the Brinell scale.
Their design ensures that the reverse side of the sheet is flush when the plunger is fully retracted.
The plunger and retainer are made from Hardened Carbon Steel with a Nickel plated finish, while the spring is made from 300 Series Stainless Steel.
Available at Fastenright in metric and imperial measurements. Locating Pin Panel Fasteners without the locking mechanism can also be supplied.
