Shear Barrel Nuts Button Head

Shear Barrel Nuts with Button Head, often referred to as breakaway or “Snap Off” Barrel Nuts, are specifically designed for high security applications where no future maintenance is required.

They feature a rounded button head with an additional hexagonal portion attached to the top – enabling quick and easy installation using a standard hex socket or wrench.

Once the fastening pressure exceeds the maximum torque limit of the the barrel nut, the hexagonal portion breaks off resulting in a drive-less barrel nut. The smooth button head limits the grip once installed to prevent tampering and removal.

This one-way permanent fastener is one of the most reliable security solutions currently available, often used in a multitude of safety and security critical environments e.g. prisons and banks – as well as in the automotive and aerospace sectors.

Button Head Shear Barrel Nuts are manufactured from Steel Zinc Plated and A2 / 303 Stainless Steel as standard, with other materials and finishes available on request.

Available now in an M8 thread as standard, with other sizes available to order. We supply a range of Shear Snap Off Fasteners here at Fastenright, as well as a wide range of Security Screws to suit most applications and assemblies.

Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
