Invar Screws, Fasteners and Fixings
Invar, or Invar 36, is an Iron-Nickel alloy consisting of 64% Iron and 36% Nickel, often combined with trace quantities of other elements such as Manganese and Silicon.
The major advantage of Invar is its ability to retain high strength and toughness at cryogenic temperatures.
It is typically used for low temperature and low expansion applications as a result, often within precision equipment such as thermostats and lasers where changes due to thermal expansion should be minimal.
Invar 42 contains 42% Nickel and has a slightly different coefficient of thermal expansion compared to regular Invar.
Super Invar, otherwise known as Invar 32-5, is composed with an additional 5% Cobalt and is designed to provide minimal thermal expansion at room temperatures.
