Mild Steel Screws, Fasteners and Fixings
Mild steel, sometimes referred to as carbon steel or plain carbon steel is defined as having no more than 2% carbon, as well as no other appreciable alloying element.
This steel is mass produced and makes up the largest part of the steel production industry, and you will be able to find it across a wide range of different applications, fasteners and fixings.
Typically, this steel is strong, stiff and magnetic, and often finds itself in use within motors and electrical appliances – however, they exhibit poor corrosion resistance and should not be used in a corrosive environment without protective platings or coatings.
There are a few differences between mild steel and steel, as steel is less ductile and more brittle – and mild steel can be further strengthened through the addition of carbon.
