Stayblack Finish Screws, Fasteners and Fixings
A Stayblack finish is a chemical conversion which modifies the passive oxide layer of stainless steel, leaving the coated fastener matte black.
The blackening process is a conversion of the material surface, meaning it does not add any additional layers and therefore doesn’t affect threaded components whilst still maintaining the strength, resistance to corrosion and high-temperature resistance of the stainless steel.
There are a number of uses for a Stayblack finish, due to the aforementioned advantage that it doesn’t change the dimensions of the component. When some industries need to ensure a uniform black colour – such as the military industry – a Stayblack finish can aid in this. The finish is also used on aerials, latches, clips and fixings.
Stayblack also withstands atmospheric weathering, as well as hot water and high temperatures, as well as not affecting the corrosion resistance of the base steel.
